Palm Sunday Lunch
Join us in the Community Hall right after Divine Liturgy for our annual salmon Palm Sunday Lunch on April 17th! Tickets will be available at the door for $20, as well as wine tickets and complimentary pop/juice/water.

Pascha 2022
Happening on Easter Sunday, April 24th, starting at 3pm! Tickets are available by clicking here. To sponsor a lamb, contact Penelope at admin@calgaryhellenic.com. Remember, all sponsorships over $25 will receive a tax receipt!

AGM Notice
The first call is April 17th and the second call of the AGM will be held on Sunday, May 1st at 6pm. More information to follow.

Greek Deputy Foreign Minister of the Diaspora Visit
Mr. Andreas Katsaniotis, Greek Deputy Foreign Minister for the Diaspora Greeks, will be visiting our community on Thursday, April 14th, from 2-5pm. His wife, Evangelia Stavrianaki and his escort delegation will also be joining him. All community members are welcome to come and visit with Mr. Katsaniotis!

Accounting Technician/Bookkeeper Wanted
Our Community needs help in the accounting department. Duties include:

  • entering invoices
  • cheque runs
  • monthly bank reconciliations
  • monthly reports
  • assisting in year-end financial reporting
  • other ad-hoc duties as situations arise

If you are a motivated accounting student or bookkeeper and are interested in this part-time opportunity, please contact Vaso Morfessis at cotreasurer@calgaryhellenic.com along with salary expectations.

Easter Baskets
With Easter just around the corner, take advantage of pre ordering Easter Baskets filled with treats and goodies for your children and God children today!

Choose from our pink and blue baskets each filled with a decorated Lambatha, the Beautiful Pascha coloring book, markers, God children book mark, bunny ears, chocolates, candies and a freshly baked Tsoureki. For older children, choose the Easter basket filled with chocolates, candies, the Resurrection of Christ book, a Lambatha, a Komboskini from Mount Athos and a freshly baked Tsoureki.

The cost for each basket is $50. You can place your orders by clicking here  or order at the Church Store in person until April 10th.  Baskets will be ready for pick up on Palm Sunday April 17th at the St. Demetrios Church Store. All proceeds to benefit our St. Demetrios Church.

Individual Lambathes also available at the Church Store.

Sunday School
Pascha is fast approaching and that means we are looking for help with Making the Palm crosses on Saturday, April 16th between 11am – 12:30pm.

Request for Myrofores & Angels
Parents who have daughters aged 7 and up, who are interested in either being a Myrofores or an Angels during the evening service for Good Friday, April 22th are asked to sign up by clicking here and to read the information on the form.

Maids of Athena
The Maids of Athena are having a bake sale on April 10th. They will be selling baked goods and all proceeds will be donated to the Indigenous Women’s Shelter (Awo Taan). They provide a broad continuum of support  services guided by Aborginal traditional teachings, that include prevention, intervention, and healing to anyone affected by any form of abuse. Adult Greek Dance
The next practice for Adult Dance is Wednesday, April 6th @ 6:30pm in the main community hall. Drop-ins are more than welcome to attend!

Pan-Orthodox Youth Retreat in Saskatoon
St Vincent of Lerins Orthodox Church, Antiochian Orthodox Church, will be hosting a Pan-Orthodox Youth Retreat in Saskatoon on the May Long Weekend. The retreat is open for Orthodox youth Grades 7-12. With a focus of growing in their faith in Christ and getting to know other Orthodox Christian youth throughout Canada.
